Aluminum has a range of exceptional properties that make it versatile across many applications. With a low density of 2.7 g per cubic centimetre it can be transformed into hard aluminum, super hard aluminum, rust proof aluminum and cast aluminum. These alloys are used in aviation, automotive, shipbuilding and more, including rockets, space shuttles and satellites.
Aluminum has excellent thermal conductivity, three times that of iron, which makes it ideal for heat exchangers, heat sinks and cookware. Its ductility allows foil thinner than 0.01 mm, widely used in packaging. The corrosion resistant oxide protective film makes it suitable for chemical reactors, medical devices, refrigeration units and oil pipelines.

Which aluminum alloy machines best?
6061-T6 is the workhorse: it machines cleanly, anodizes well and is widely available. 7075-T6 is stronger but costs more and is less forgiving of thin walls.
Can aluminum parts be anodized in colour?
Yes. Anodizing is one of our standard finishes and colour is matched against your reference sample before the production lot is processed.
Is aluminum suitable for heat sinks?
Yes, its thermal conductivity is roughly three times that of iron, which is exactly why heat sinks and heat exchangers are usually aluminum.
